EPITOME - St Luke 45 (Thumbprint) true '92 DIY from the Philly exurbs: edition of 200

The EPITOME - St. Luke / Into The Fire (Thumbprint) true '92 DIY from the Philly exurbs: edition of 200.

The Epitome's A-side's an extra-minimal postpunk/No Wave shamble with a dubby groove that they composed out of a word-association game. The flipside, meanwhile, is a truly DIY-sounding mess of indie/Byrds strumming and Bolan/Took bongo-drum scrubbing. They made 200 45s, and pressed them on either red or black vinyl (possibly 100 each?). The B-side stamper had a scuff that played all the way through on both colors and even their testpressings, and none of the vinyl seems to've been all that good to begin with, so it's all pretty noisy. Thumbprint typeset a PS, but those never made it past the stage of rough photocopies trimmed down from 11x17"/A3 paper.

Their story goes something like this: The Epitome began in Norristown, PA in the late '80s and cut just this one, supremely homely 45 in 1992 before cleaning up their bedrooms and moving to Atlanta, where they remained active into the late '90s. Founder and primary songwriter David Speakman is now back in Pennsylvania performing under the moniker HAPPY good (www.happygoodband.com). Disks are new but would play-grade VG+ at best. Your choice of red or black vinyl (please specify). The reproduction PS is as realistic I could make them - and comes on vintage paper.
