UNATTACHED - 6-song EP (Throbbing Lobster #18)

Unattached 6-song EP (Throbbing Lobster #18) The last thing that Throbbing Lobster released. Jaime Sever had started out in the Jetsons (Bloomington, Indiana) and helped run the legendary Gulcher collaborative/ cooperative. He moved back to Worcester, Massachusetts where the Unattached recorded some demos (Volume insists there was a 1982 Unattached cassette in circulation). Jetsons fans will have some idea, perhaps, of how impossibly great "Genetically Stupid" was when they played it live... Unattached played Boston on occasion but they were superstars in Wormtown - they just never thought about putting out a record. They also broke up all the time. I got them to re-form for the Let's Breed! record-release parties (10 bands, two nights at the Rat) and again for the first Chain Link Fence record-release party, I think, but it wasn't til '87 that they stayed together for any length of time. By that point there was less garage-punk, and a lot more Exile on Main Street and maybe 1980s Aerosmith, with a fistful of terrific tunes - which might have been enough to launch a very profitable career, except that Alice Cooper wrote some new lyrics for one of their demos and called it "Trash", which became a huge hit and re-established Alice's career. Jaime and Mark played on the "Trash" session but celebrated this brush with fame by firing their long-suffering rhythm section - and that was the end of Unattached. And Throbbing Lobster.
(The EP comes with a 12x12" insert covered with their excellent handbill artwork.)
