Naked -One Step Backward CD OVER 113VP CD

23 studio recordings from late 70s punks who evolved into an anarcho band. Compiles their Bluurg 7", their Crass track and a further 17 unreleased studio tracks.
Naked formed in Sheerness, Kent in early 1979 ...but played their first gig (and many more after that) in Holland. The early stuff is solidly 77 punk apart from the scratchy guitars: by 1981 the attitude is fully anarcho. They got steadily better throughout their career and there's a strong sense of 70s-punk melody throughout.

Five songs from their 1979 first demo, one from 1980, then they recorded 10 songs for a mail-order cassette titled '1981'. Overground: Things started to take off once Crass asked for one of those tracks, 'Mid-1930s Pre-War Germany', to be included on 'Bullshit Detector II'. The track was easily the album’s standout and a Sounds review said of it 'smacks of self-motivated sincerity as opposed to the usual predictable conformity'.
During 1983 they developed a friendship with The Subhumans and in November 1983 Bluurg released the 'One Step Forward' 7" which was a top 20 indie hit and stayed in the chart for 5 weeks. Another single was planned for Bluurg but for reasons now forgotten never happened...
